Need a quick, thoughtful and yummy gift for someone? How about some homemade mason jars of cookie ingredients? It’s a great homemade gift, especially for someone that loves to have fresh cookies baking in their home (and isn’t that everyone?)
These Cookie Mason Jars are a great gift and they’re not difficult to make! I’ve even provided you a template of the instructions that you can print and tie to the jar.
Yield: 1 Jar (20 cookies)
Supplies/Ingredients
- 32 ounce wide mouth mason jar
- Granulated Sugar – 134 grams or ½ cup
- Brown Sugar – 116 grams or ½ cup
- Flour – 125 grams or 1 cup
- Baking Soda – 5 grams or 1 teaspoon
- Salt – 1 gram or ⅛ teaspoon
- Cocoa Powder – 51 grams or ½ cup + 2 tablespoons
- Instant Coffee or Espresso Powder – 1 tablespoon
- Peppermint Chips (like Andes Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips) – 100 grams or ¾ cups
- Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips – 100 grams or ¾ cups
Directions:
- Fill your mason jar in a layered approach until full. I use the order in which my ingredients are listed. I use a scale to make the process faster and cleaner.
- Print the instructions label and use a hole punch in the top left corner
- Tie the instructions label around the mouth of the mason jar.
- User will need:
- 1 stick of unsalted butter (8 tablespoons)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- User Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350
- Beat butter, egg and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
- Add ingredients from the jar and mix until combined.
- Chill for at least 3 hours.
- Drop rounded tablespoons onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set. Time may vary depending on your oven.
